The role
The Technical Specialist is responsible for the compilation and follow-up of technical specifications (shipbuilding and engineering-skilled components or installations) for purchase. He or she ensures that the product/information provided by third parties fits within the product specifications, technical capabilities and planning of Damen Yachting.
Key accountabilities
- Is added to a project by the Technical Manager and receives the project objectives for himself from the Project Manager Engineering.
- Ensure that a schedule for the delivery of technical supplier information is created, monitors it and adjust where necessary.
- Speak to the suppliers, possibly in agreement with purchasing, on timely delivery of supplier information.
- Prepares technical specifications for procure and compile and maintain other engineering documents.
- Evaluates supplier engineering products on specification and suitability. Drives suppliers on technical content.
- Consult with engineering project team members about the impact that systems and products to be delivered have on the technical design and assist as needed.
- On request, reviews requests for change orders and advises when drawing them up.
- Is responsible for the distribution and administration of technical documentation of the (sub) suppliers.
- Creates items in the engineering database, enters vendor information into the engineering database, and maintains these items and information.
- Fulfills, where necessary, the function of coordinator within production in own field.
Skills & experience
- Knowledge at the level of Bachelor degree in Engineering or Shipbuilding.
- At least 7 years of relevant work experience.
- Extensive working knowledge of yacht execution details.
- Extensive knowledge of relevant regulations.
- Extensive technical knowledge of supplier products
