The Project Manager Yard Support is the linking pin between our international production locations and the operational departments from the Business Units at our head office in Gorinchem, the Netherlands. He or she is responsible for advising, initiating and coordinating improvement with respect to the efficiency of the production process at these locations.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher, preferably in one of the following subjects: Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or Business Administration;
- Relevant work experience within production or project management;
- Organizational skills, quality conscious, flexible, and customer-oriented;
- Mobile and excited to take on medium to longer international assignments;
- Proven record of leadership;
- Ability to set priorities, take a process-centred approach, and maintain an overview;
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English and Dutch.
Commercial New Build Division (CNBD) focuses on (inter-)national shipyards where construction activities are carried out and is divided into five customer-oriented business units: Offshore & transport (O&T), Workboats (WB), High Speed Craft (HSC), Damen Technical Cooperation (DTC) and Cruise RoPax & Offshore (CRO). This implicates that the responsibility for the entire production chain - from Design & Proposal to completion on the yard – will be under the responsibility of one Managing Director. Additionally there is a CNBD Operations Support Department, which supports the business units, separate smaller product groups and (international) shipyards in the process, both in terms of standards, processes and procedures and personnel. The sales department, services department and staff departments (Finance, HR, IT) report directly to a member of the Executive Board.
The Operations Support Department selects and explores the physical possibilities, limitations and risks of potential production locations / yards. It maintains adequate technical support available for the product groups and foreign subsidiaries. It examines and supports the development of this subsidiaries. The Operations Support department selects and investigates the physical possibilities, limitations and risks of potential construction sites and contracts the outsourcing to the production sites on behalf of the CNBD. It provides adequate technical support to the business units and (inter)national shipyards, assists in the development of shipyards in the field of production organization and process optimization, investigates and supports the development of the foreign operating companies. Operations Support also identifies and advises on HSE legislation and regulations and monitors the processes within the organization regarding quality and quality management, working conditions and the environment. It ensures the effectiveness of the CNBD management system and stimulates the process of continuous improvement. In addition, Operations Support has an advisory, guiding, supporting and signaling role towards CNBD in the field of project management and engineering.
The Yard Support department provides support to the production & job preparation departments of CNBD yards and DTC partner yards in achieving common CNBD improvement objectives and in executing their commercial responsibilities.
