Within Damen, the “Group IT&IM team” is providing high quality IT solutions and services (to appr. 40 business units and 6000 users). The group IT&IM team is also driving the digital transformation throughout the company (e.g. increasing productivity, improving customer experience, finding/implementating new business models and revenue streams).
The Group IT&IM team consist of appr. 160 people in different disciplines, e.g. Architecture, Development and Operations disciplines. People from the different disciplines work closely in both “traditional” collaboration structures and also more and more in Agile oriented collaboration structures.
In the IT&IM team there is always place for (new) talent. Below are some examples of areas and topics where we could use (your) help. If you’re interested in one of them we can drink a (virtual) cup of coffee together and discuss possible assignments.
The role
Potential areas and topics for an internship or graduation project:
• Standardisation/rationalisation. Identify and realise opportunities to standardise/rationalise key business and / or IT processes (i.e. reduce waste, make these processes (even) more effective, efficient). For example HR onboarding processes, procurement processes, invoice handling, test processes, deployment processes, etc.;
• Identify and realise opportunities to automate (standardised/rationalised) business and/or IT processes (i.e. make these processes faster, cheaper, more effective, efficient, etc.). See examples above;
• Identify/realise opportunities to further improve the coherence (integrations/connections between) new and old legacy IT systems. Further improve functionality and performance of these integrations. Help deliver new integrations. Improve proactive ‘end-to-end’ monitoring of existing integrations;
• Help structure and mature our test (mngt) approach. Improve test (mngt) templates/guidelines. Explain/train test guidelines. Help execute tests. Help find and realise opportunities to automate test activities (introduce the right test tools at the right time);
• Resource management. Help our team leads develop and maintain overview of the resource planning. Who is doing what where. Proactively identify and solve resource conflicts and shortages. Help control, analyse and report the time and money we put into the different IT activities;
• Proactively look for new technologies/IT opportunities in the outside world that could / should also be considered at Damen. Help determine if and if so how to introduce these new technology within Damen;
• Knowledge management. Help us structure/intensify sharing of (relevant) knowledge across the different IT and business stakeholders and disciplines. Identify/introduce knowledge development/sharing procedures and tooling. Help us analyse incidents, find and resolve underlying route causes;
Key accountabilities
The right student:
• Is a HBO/WO student;
• Studying in the areas of Business Information Management, Business Administration, Innovation Management, Software Engineering, (Technical) Informatica, Computer Science or any other IT and business areas;
• Has a logical, analytical and creative approach to problems;
• Is available fulltime for at least 6 months;
• Has interest in ship manufacturing and related technologies;
• Is proactive in communication and collaboration;
• Has a demonstrated drive, ability and willingness to learn new things;
• Has the ability to work both in a team and alone and to manage own workload.
