The role

Does your heart beat faster when you see a vessel? Are you a Mechanical Engineer ready for the next step, with the challenge to develop standardized solutions which are suitable for our ship types? Then please read further, as we are looking for an Engineer Mechanical for our standardization team.

The standardization team within Engineering is responsible for the development of the standard systems, parts and solutions. Within the standardization team, all the building blocks will be developed (including class approval), which will be integrated in the new or existing ship designs. This to increase the commonality over the various ship-types, which in the end leads to reduction of cost, shortened engineering lead time and an improved overall quality. Besides that, the team supports Services and the Yards in case of problems related to the standard designs

As an Engineer you are working on Mechanical standardization and development projects, working under the ultimate responsibility of the Project Manager Engineering.
You have some experience as an Engineer Mechanical, preferably in the maritime sector. You have the analytic ability to thoroughly understand and comprehend root causes of problems and functional and stake-holder requirements, to be able to come to a well-supported technical design or solution. You will be able to work in different fields of your expertise and over time develop even beyond.

Key accountabilities

• Executing all the phases of engineering according the V-model. From the setting-up of functional requirements until the preparation of commissioning protocols;
• Assessing and analysing input of suppliers, services, detailed engineering and suppliers;
• Working closely together with all stakeholders;
• Monitoring quality and organizing interface and system integration with other disciplines and co-makers;
• Performing calculations related to load/power, strength and flow calculations in the mechanical engineering field;
• Supporting the Class and National Authorities approval process;
• Preparing system diagrams, propulsion arrangements and outfitting drawings; • Preparing Test protocols and analyse the test results;
• Preparing Design Philosophies, Measurements and Commissioning protocols;
• Coordinating the outsourcing of work to our 3D Engineering partners.

Skills & experience

Quality consciousness and a practical approach is in your blood. You are proactive, creative and working accurately. In addition, you meet the following features:
• Minimum of 3 years of working experience in Mechanical Engineering, preferable in the maritime sector.
• Bachelor degree in the field of Mechanical Engineering;
• An interest in innovation and an open mindset to new technologies;
• Good communication skills;
• English is a must, Dutch is a plus
