Damen Shipyards Group is established in 1927 and is a 100% Dutch family owned international group of companies which operates 35 shipbuilding and repair yards, employing 12,000 people worldwide.

Damen has delivered more than 6,000 vessels in more than 100 countries and delivers c. 200 vessels annually to customers worldwide. Damen offers a wide range of products, including tugs, workboats, naval and patrol vessels, high speed craft, cargo vessels, dredgers, vessels for the offshore industry, ferries, pontoons and superyachts.

For nearly all vessel types Damen offers a broad range of services, including maintenance, spare parts delivery, training and the transfer of (shipbuilding) know-how. Damen also offers a variety of marine components, such as nozzles, rudders, anchors, anchor chains and steel works.

The Group is currently focusing on long term investment projects, with emphasis on environmental impact (green vessels, low/no emissions, circular, cradle to cradle concept) for several market segments, such as public transport and infrastructure projects.

 

The role

Within the Group Finance & Treasury department, Group Finance has global responsibility for funding of the group, including arranging, structuring and management of a broad and innovative range of funding transactions. Funding varies from senior corporate facilities and working capital solutions to global real estate, asset and sustainable projects financings.

Group finance is a global centralized function, serving as a center of expertise for the Damen group. The team’s responsibility expands into balance sheet liability management. Group Finance actively arranges and structures group funding and asset & real estate funding transactions. The team is increasingly involved in financing our ambition to become the world’s most sustainable shipbuilder.

Will you join this team as Group Funding Manager within an international and innovative Shipbuilder? Please continue reading: 

You will communicate frequently with your colleagues worldwide, and you will also interface regularly with financing and bank guarantee partners. In cooperation with the other team members you are responsible for managing current financing facilities and originate and structure new funding transactions. You will tell the Damen story and convince investors and new financing partners.

You will become part of a team of three working closely with the Treasury team of five and the legal team.

Together with the Treasury team, Group Finance is responsible for ensuring funding, robust group capital structure and managing financial risks in order to support the core business of Damen. Group Finance works closely with the CFO, Group Control, as well as the financial directors and business controllers of Damen’s eight divisions.

The job includes amongst others the following tasks and responsibilities described below.

Key accountabilities

  • Initiate and develop global funding initiatives;
  • Maintain and develop relationships with financing and bank guarantee partners;
  • Optimize and diversify the Group’s funding structure;
  • Able to manage documentation process in with (external) legal council;
  • Reports into the Director Group Finance & Treasury.

Skills & experience

  • Bachelor or Master degree in preferably finance, economics or business administration;
  • Several years of work experience, preferably in structuring, investment banking, corporate finance, project finance or sustainable finance;
  • Understanding of key credit risk and mitigants considerations;
  • Strong modelling skills – scenario analysis;
  • Experience with legal documentation and related processes;
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) in Dutch and English;
  • Hands-on, accurate and well-structured;
  • Self starting team player who enjoys to be the linking pin in multiple party processes;
