The role
Damen Naval is continuously improving its designing process and the corresponding yard- and project standards and standardisation methods. Extensive experience from vessel engineering and production feedback is used to keep these standards up to date for new designs. Also (re)new(ed) components and new developed products must be adopted in the standards. To make the correct decisions by the selection and implementation of these (re)new(ed) components internal trade-off studies are necessary. Final decisions in the selection and implementation process are made in close cooperation with the purchase department, the work preparation department and related production departments. Early detailed information of costs in relation to the quality are becoming important.
Another important issue is managing the standards in the new 3DX environment.
Due to the existing way of creating (designing) and releasing of the standards the new 3DX environment requires another way of managing. Research is to be done to discover the most effective process flow for this new future proof way of managing.
Also the numbers of recourses for the standardisation department and the level of engineers and teamleader(s) including their skills and specialism must be reviewed and advice must be given with regards to the optimal organisation of this department.
Key accountabilities
The internship focusses on the workflows and future proof organisation of the standardisation department due to the implementation of the new 3DX environment.
Skills & experience
The perfect candidate is:
- A Bachelor or Master student Business Administration.
- Passionate about ships or shipbuilding.
- Able to balance level of detail and applicability of tools.
- Capable of identifying and communicating with multiple stakeholders.
- Independent, analytical and proactive.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
