The role

The position is within the Engineering department where the employees have been divided over projects, in which they contribute to both product definition and the engineering of production information within their field of expertise. As the navies tend to specify more and more the functional and operational requirements, these shall be analysed and monitored during the design and engineering phases. With the quest for deeper knowledge regarding the naval ship operations also comes the need to perform operational analysis and guarantee operational safety onboard. The operational analysis is a logical step in the Systems Engineering process.

Key accountabilities

You will be responsible for the execution of the operational analysis of a naval vessel in peacetime and wartime operations during the proposal and engineering phases. You will collaborate with the ship operators (navies), ship system designers, suppliers,  knowledge institutes and the system engineers. Together with the system safety engineers, the operational safety shall be analysed and reported

Skills & experience

  • Proven affinity with naval ship operations, to be able to analyse them and ask questions to technical system experts;
  • You can analyse and give input to operational models  
  • You have a helicopter view
  • A technical education at BSc level,
  • Creative within your field;
  • Accurate and efficient;
  • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team;
  • Good knowledge of English and German, both verbally and in writing;
  • Prepared to occasionally travel within the Netherlands and abroad;
  • European passport for security clearance
