About us

The goal is to develop, design and construct a portfolio of tugs, stationary dredgers and high speed crafts in the most effective and efficient manner, primarily based on series production of (smart-customized) standard designs. Damen Workboats offers a range of innovative, standardized & smart-customized designs, fulfilling current and developing market demands, with well-balanced levels of quality, service, price, and delivery time; thereby providing optimal solutions for our clients. Our vessels are produced at our yards in Vietnam, China, Turkey and the Netherlands.

The role

As Purchaser Workboats, you are responsible for the procurement of all components for Tugs (engines, systems, windows, valves etc). Because of the high number of Tugs we produce per year, we are building those vessels on stock and we customize them based on client requirements. Flow is an important matter in this business. Therefore in the procurement process it’s key that in time procurement is assured. The products are mostly standard (or pre-defined) and prices are mostly pre-defined in frame work agreements. Aspects as in time placing orders, expediting, assuring all logistic requirements are an important part of your job.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team, representing Procurement, Material Coordination, Engineering and Project Management. Due to the volume you work together with an assistant purchaser to get the job done.

Key accountabilities

• Responsible for the entire Purchasing process of standard workboats (tugs)
• Ensure the purchase of implemented standards, in collaboration with engineering
• You are continuously monitoring and align the procurement planning with the Material Coordinator and yard (Vietnam) to ensure the production planning
• You know always the latest status of deliveries and issues and will keep this data up to date in our ERP program
• Ability to mitigate risks in the supply chain by searching to alternative sourcing possibilities
• A pro-active attitude to internal and external stake holders and in time escalation of risks
• Active contribution to improvement programs to optimize the supply chain of goods

Skills & experience

• Bachelor degree in preferably in Logistics, Supply Chain or Industrial Engineering •
At least 3 years working for Supply Chain or Procurement, preferably in a process driven industry
• Experience with working in a commercial environment
• Ability to set up an structured way of working
• Excellent communication skills in English and Dutch, both spoken and written • Experience with working in ERP systems
• Hands-on mentality, with a service-oriented approach
