About us

Damen Shiprepair & Conversion’s (DS&C) is a division of Damen Shipyards a family owned business. Our scope of work covers repair, maintenance, refit and conversion on all types of vessel, throughout the entire lifecycle – from first scheduled service through to decommissioning and disposal.

DS&C has a worldwide network of repair and conversion yards. Facilities at the yards include more than 50 floating (and covered) drydocks, as well as slopes, ship lifts and indoor halls. Projects range from the smallest simple repairs through Class’ maintenance to complex refits and the complete conversion of large offshore structures. DS&C completes over 1,500 repair and maintenance jobs annually, both at yards as well as in ports and during voyage.

Damen Shiprepair Curaçao (DSCu) currently has two graving docks and 1.5 kilometers of quay to service its international customers with high quality service.

We are looking for a Services Coordinator with the vision and expertise in industrial maintenance and investments who can guide and manage the activities and the teams at the facility, who is not afraid to make his/her hands dirty, is good with computers and has an organized mindset

The role

In this capacity you are the Services Coordinator of the location Shipyard. You are responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance of all facilities and machines, as well for the investments at the ship yard. Electrical, Dock Harbor & Transport departments are also part of the services chain in this position. The position reports to the Operations Manager.

Key accountabilities

• Is responsible for the preventive and corrective Maintenance of all facilities;

• Defining trade needs and analyzing services to be performed by sub-contractors;

• Is ultimately responsible for executing all investments in company assets;

• Evaluating and selecting qualified subcontractors to bid for project services;

• Assesses execution of sub-contractors performances and provides guidance if necessary;

• Guarantee a reliable and safe electrical infrastructure;

• Make sure that the Dock Harbour & Transport department can always perform optimal services to the shipyard;

• Manages all transport and crane activities according safety protocols.

Skills & experience

• Degree in Engineering, Naval Architecture or equivalent;

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Ship repair yard/ Maritime or other heavy industry environment;

• Fluent in English and Dutch, Papiamentu and Spanish are a pre;

• Excellent communication and organizational skills;

• Affinity with Financial Management, including preparation of budgets;

• Flexible attitude, no nine to five mentality;

• Familiarity with basic information management practices and computer systems;

• Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
