The role
We are looking for solid and quality oriented new colleagues who want to be part of our diverse Product Management team, based in our head office in Vlissingen. In this role you will lead a small team engineers to develop semi-custom and custom built yachts. You will also support our Sales and Marketing team by taking care of timely realization of General Arrangements, 3D models, marketing materials and VR presentations.
The Team Lead Mechanical is responsible for promoting efficient and consistent engineering processes and standards within the relevant field and to provide technical support for other departments within the field. He or she provides temporary and, where necessary, operational support in the area of responsibilities for projects within the Engineering department.
Key accountabilities
- Manages his group of engineers professionally, makes technical decisions where necessary.
- Assists in drawing up the document lists including budgets for the work and monitors these at the level of the engineers.
- Participates in various department and project meetings.
- Sets goals for his direct reports and monitors their implementation, making adjustments where necessary.
- Makes proposals for improvement of the organization, processes and methods within his department and encourages others within the department to do the same.
- Contributes substantially to the design process and the creation of the Product Definition Package which closes out design and enters detail engineering.
- Investigates new and innovative ways to improve image material for design, sales and marketing purposes.
Skills & experience
- You hold a Vocational or Bachelor degree in the area of mechanical engineering
- Knowledge of the principles of leadership (is aware of his coaching role and is able to shape it).
- Alternatively you have a proven track record in the yacht design or yacht building industry
- Creative, innovative, always eager to improve.
- A team player with a constructive attitude
- Good knowledge of Cadmatic Outfitting and / or Autocad.
- Quality-oriented, systematic and consistent.
- A good command of the English language.

Engineering, translating a yacht design into a real yacht!
We are the core of the yacht building process of Damen Yachting. Whether it is a luxurious yacht, ruggedized expedition yacht or a multipurpose yacht support vessel, we engineer it all. Our team of 160 engineers work divided over four main disciplines: shipbuilding, mechanical, electrical and interior. All are passionate and dedicated, working closely together in project teams and creating a pleasant and personal working atmosphere. Together we engineer the yacht as a virtual ship, as the yacht will be a digital one before it will be built in real life. By using advanced 3D software we integrate increasingly standardized and modularized systems, for a fast and reliable delivery of our yachts to the highest quality and value. During this process we work closely together with our co-makers to incorporate the latest industry standards and technologies into our yachts.
