The role

Damen Naval uses emerging immersive (xR) technologies like Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR) to support the shipbuilding process and the operation of Damen Naval vessels. These technologies are used for sales, concept development, design, production, training, operation, and maintenance. These technologies are, most of the time, connected to other domains including but not limited to education, gamification and serious games, data, and maintenance. A multidisciplinary scrum team uses these technologies to create software applications that run on xR devices like HTC Vive, Oculus Quest and Microsoft HoloLens.

Key accountabilities

As xR-Developer, you will:

  • Develop C# code in Unity game engine.
  • Maintain and develop productivity tools (Python).
  • Maintain and update development environment.
  • Design functional and/or conceptual parts of xR products.
  • Optimize internal processes and tooling.

Skills & experience

As xR-Developer, you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of software development and preferably game development or by experience, possess the same competencies and skills.
  • At least three years working experience as a developer in the Unity3D game engine.
  • Solid understanding of the C# language and software development (data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and design patterns).
  • Affinity with the naval maritime industry.
  • You have excellent English communication skills in writing and spoken.
  • Experience with the development of Virtual Reality applications, Python language, scripting for 3D content creation tools (Blender Python, Maya MEL, etc) and relational databases are considered as a plus.
  • Excellent antecedents as a pre-employment security screening and investigation are a part of the recruitment procedure (given the military nature of our projects).
  • Permanent EU citizenship and valid EU work visa are both required to be considered as viable candidate.
